As we know, the Covid-19 pandemic has brought significant changes to many spheres of life. In particular, to the sphere of education. Pupils and students were forced to learn how to study at home. That was quite complicated for both children and their parents. Of course, educators also had a hard time. They had to teach each student without seeing his or her reaction and understanding of the subject. So, this is where AI and VR technologies help.

Google company started developing a variety of technological decisions to simplify the learning process. In particular, it has recently released Socratic app that helps to do HW in math, physics, and chemistry.

Technical Features

The work of the app is based on artificial intelligence (AI). During several months the algorithms analyzed and classified the students' answers to various questions. Now the app uses this data to predict next questions. And so, to provide the most relevant answers.

All that the students should do in the app is to take a photo of a certain answer. With the help of the optical character recognition (OCR), the app scans the photos and classifies them according to the technology described. As an answer to their question, the pupils receive different cards. This can be a definition, video on YouTube, Q&A, or unique content in the form of illustrations and explanation by Socratic.org company. To solve mathematical tasks the app uses step-by-step explanations and graphs.

How to Use

It’s extremely simple to use the app. So a child of any age will cope with it. After launching the camera is turned on that has to be pointed at the equation that needs to be solved (see the example). Then crop the photo choosing the main example. The app scans it and provides the variants on how to decide it.

Of course, the app doesn’t solve the examples by itself. It redirects to the websites which provide step-by-step decisions with explanations. However, all the information is gathered in one place and that is very convenient. A student won’t have to waste time looking for resources to do HW.

If the equation is too complicated, the app just shows the rules on how to decide it.

Our Projects

Our development team also creates technological decisions for educational goals. In particular, we developed a VR simulator to train the behavior scenario on the lessons of life safety. With the help of virtual reality, the students can train on how to behave in extraordinary situations. For example, in case of fire, flood, earthquake, or other extreme conditions. Read about the details in our portfolio!

Thus, modern education is gradually giving place to innovations and technologies such as AI and VR. Undoubtedly, we shouldn’t choose only one of the variants. Though we should find the golden mean to gain the most fruitful results in studies.
